Fair Wisconsin PAC 2012 Recall Election Endorsements
FAIR WISCONSIN PAC ENDORSES MAYOR TOM BARRETT FOR GOVERNOR
Barrett, Mitchell strong team to unite Wisconsin in recall election (Press release issued May 10, 2012)
Fair Wisconsin Political Action Committee is proud to endorse Mayor Tom Barrett for Governor and Mahlon Mitchell for Lieutenant Governor in the recall elections on June 5.
“Mayor Barrett has been a champion for equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Wisconsinites throughout his career in public service,” stated Katie Belanger, Fair Wisconsin Executive Director. “Mayor Barrett has demonstrated his commitment to fairness and equality for the LGBT community.”
His opposition in Congress to the federal ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ policy, his vocal opposition to the 2006 Constitutional marriage amendment, and his participation in the national ‘Mayors for the Freedom to Marry’ campaign highlight Mayor Barrett’s record of supporting the LGBT community.
“In a week when President Obama announced his full support for marriage equality, the importance of having strong allies and vocal advocates for fairness in the Executive Branch is underscored,” Belanger continued. “Wisconsin needs leadership that will stand up for all its residents and we are confident that MayorBarrett and Mahlon Mitchell will successfully restore Wisconsin to its rightful place as a leader in the equality movement.”
Wisconsin Senate Recall Candidates (Posted April 24, 2012)
This spring, we are thrilled to have had the opportunity to endorse a record number of pro-fairness candidates running for office across Wisconsin. From the local elections held earlier this month, to the current recall elections, and on to state and federal races this fall, we are confident that these candidates will be effective leaders in government to continue to advance equality.
The following candidates for the Wisconsin Senate have demonstrated their commitment to fairness and Fair Wisconsin PAC is proud to stand with them on May 8 and June 5.
District 13 Lori Compas (Fort Atkinson)
District 21 John Lehman (Racine)
District 23 Kristen Dexter (Chippewa Falls)
District 29 Donna Seidel (Wausau)
Fair Wisconsin PAC Statement Regarding the Candidates in the Gubernatorial Democratic Primary (Posted April 24, 2012)
Fair Wisconsin PAC is grateful to see such a multitude of pro-fairness candidates stepping up to take on an administration that has not been a friend of the movement for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality in Wisconsin. Because there are multiple candidates who are committed to fairness, Fair Wisconsin PAC has made the decision not to endorse a candidate in the Democratic primary election.
In less than a few short weeks, we will know who will challenge Scott Walker in the most divisive, heated election our state may have ever seen. On May 9th, we need to be ready to support the pro-fairness advocate who emerges from the primary and unite behind his or her campaign, ready to launch an aggressive effort to take back our government.
Please join us and stay tuned for future endorsement announcements in the general recall election.
